Poor Reception - Sun Outage

Introduction

Resolution Steps

Sun Outages

  • May cause an interruption in service when the sun passes directly behind satellites that transmit cable signals

  • Can cause signal loss, channel pixelation, a black screen, or the picture to freeze

  • Sun Outages happen between late February and early March and late September and early October; around the time of the Spring and Fall Equinoxes

    • Approximate times of signal loss typically occur between 10:30am and 5:30pm and last anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes

    • Time and duration vary from channel to channel
