Introduction
Resolution Steps

TiVo
- From live TV, press the Info button on the remote control
- Press the Down Arrow button until the closed caption icon is highlighted
- Press the Select button on the remote control to toggle the closed caption feature between on and off
- Closed Captioning settings are changed for all channels
- From live TV, press the i button on the remote control
- Turn on Closed Caption
- Press the OK button on the remote control to toggle the closed caption feature between on and off
- Closed Captioning settings are changed for all channels
- Change options as needed, then highlight and select Go Back (settings are saved) to save settings

Standard Captions: default setting is CC1 (English on English-based channels, and Spanish on Spanish-based channels)

CC2 - CC4 may carry other languages, determined by the broadcaster

Digital Captions: default setting is DTVCC1 (English on English-based channels, and Spanish on Spanish-based channels)

Closed Captioning Menu Options
This is standard for all TiVos
IPTV
- Go to TiVo Home | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Accessibility | Closed Captioning
- Closed Captions is the first option listed. Press the OK button to turn this feature ON then press the back button
- While in Live TV or in TiVo Home Press the Accessibility Option (
) on the remote (lower left corner)
- Closed Captions is the second option listed. Press the OK button to turn this feature ON then press the back button

TiVo Stream 4K
- From the main screen, scroll to the top and to the right to the settings icon (gear)
- In the Settings menu, go to Device Preferences | Accessibility | Captions
- Toggle Display to on or off as needed
- Other options are available such as Language, Text Size, and Caption Style (the colors of the captions)

Newer HD only Boxes or DVRs
- Press the MENU key twice to access the General Settings menu
- Scroll down to Language and press OK/Select
- Choose Closed Captioning and press OK/Select
- Choose On/Off and press OK/Select
- Choose from the following options:
- On - Closed captioning will be displayed on any channel/program that broadcasts with it
- Off - Closed captioning will NOT be displayed on any channel/program that broadcasts with it
- If you've turned Closed Captioning ON, use these additional settings:
- Scroll down to Analog Services and press OK/Select or scroll to the right.
- The standard setting is CC1
- Press OK/Select. scroll back to the left
- Scroll down to Digital Services and press OK/Select or scroll to the right
- The standard setting is Primary
- Press OK/Select, and scroll back to the left
- Press the Exit key to leave the General Settings menu
Models: DCX3400, DCH3416, DCT3416, DCT6416, DCT6412, DCT6400, DCT6208, DCX525E, DCX700, DCX3200P2, DCX3200, DCH3200
Older HD only boxes
- Press the Menu key twice to access the General Settings menu
- Scroll down to Closed Captioning and press OK/Select
- Choose Closed captioning to be On or Off and press OK/Select
- To exit, scroll to the left or press Exit
- If you've turned Closed Captioning ON, use these additional settings:
- Scroll down to Analog Services and press OK/Select
- The standard setting is CC1
- Press OK/Select. scroll back to the left
- Scroll down to Digital Services and press OK/Select
- The standard setting is Primary
- Press OK/Select. scroll back to the left
- Press the Exit key to leave the General Settings menu
Models: DCT6200, DCT5100
Passport (Cisco/SA Boxes)
- Press Settings on the remote to bring up Quick Settings
- Scroll down to Caption off / on / on with mute
- Select On, then press Exit
- Press Settings on the remote twice for General Settings
- Select CC: Source
- Select STD CC1 and Digital 1
- Press A to accept
- Press EXIT
- From live TV, press the Info button on the remote control
