Passport Echo (DVR) Recording Information

 

Introduction


Please note: The following steps are for basic DVR, not TiVo

Resolution Steps




One Touch Record:

    1. While watching live TV press Record

    2. Select Record this show from the list of options

    To change your recordings option:

      1. List* button

      2. Select Recording Options from the list of options

      3. Select a Save Option

        • Until Manually Erased (when the DVR is full, it no longer records)

        • Until Space is needed (DVR erases older show first)

      4. Start Time options are grayed out if a recording already started

       

      *No list button? 

 

Recording through Listings

    1. Select future program and press Record

    2. Select Create a Manual Recording and choose Individual or Recurring

    3. Choose the Channel, Date, Start Time and End Time

    Change Recording Options

      1. Press List twice, then select view Scheduled Recordings

      2. Select the recording, then Recording Options from the list

      3. Select a Save Option


          • Until Manually Erased (when the DVR is full, it no longer records)

          • Until Space is needed (DVR erases older shows first)

        • Select a Start and End Time

       

      *No list button?   

 

Record a Series

    1. While watching Live TV press Record - or - select a future program from the Guide and press Record

    2. Select Record Entire Series (option only shows if the program is a series)

    3. Select an Episodes (B option)

      • First Run only (no repeats) - or - First Run and Repeats

    4. Select a Channel option

      • Only: choose the channel you are on

      • All Channels: anywhere the DVR can find the show in the guide

    5. Select an Air Time option:

      • Only: choose the time you start the process

      • All channels: anywhere the DVR can find the show in the guide

    6. Select a Save option:

      • Until Manually Erased: when the DVR is full, it no longer records

      • Until Space is needed: DVR erases older shows first

    7. Select an Episodes to Keep option: if choosing more than 5 choose All Episodes

    8. Select a Start and End Time option

 

Series Manager

    Modify recording options for each of series recording; changes made to the series recording settings affect each episode in the series

    Change series options

      1. Press the List* key twice

      2. Select Series Manager, then select the recording to change

      3. Select the Series Recording Options to change:

        • Episodes to Record: First Run and Repeats or First Run Only
        • Channels: Any Channel, Specific channel, HD Only, or SD Only
        • Air Times: All Showings or Specific Time Only
        • Save: Until Space is Needed or Until Manually Erased

       

      *No list button?  

     

    Sort Series by Title (alphabetically)

      1. Press the List* key twice

      2. Select Series Manager, then press the A button and select Sort by Title

      *No list button?  

     

    Sort Series by Priority

      Change the priority of future recordings; the higher the priority, the more likely it records if there is a conflict

      1. Press the List* key twice

      2. Select Series Manager, then select the recording to change

      3. Select Series Recording Priority

      4. Use ▲ or ▼ to move the show to a higher or lower priority

       

      *No list button?  

     

    View Series by Priority

      1. Press the List* key twice

      2. Select Series Manager and press the A button

      3. Select Sort by Priority

       

      *No list button?  

     

    Canceling a Series Recording

        1. Press the List* key twice

        2. Select Series Manager, then select the series to cancel

        3. Select Cancel Series Recording, then press A to confirm

         

        *No list button?   

 

Setting a Manual Recording

    1. While watching TV press the REC key

    2. Select Create a Manual Recording, then select Individual or Recurring recording

    3. Press ► to access the  Channel column. Use ▲ or ▼ select a channel

    4. Press ► to access the Days column. Use ▲ or ▼ select a day or days

      • For Individual recordings, the Day(s) column displays the date of the recording
      • For Recurring recordings, the Day(s) column displays a day of the week (or a combination of days)

    5. Press ► to access the  Start column to set the time that the recording should start

      • Use ▲ or ▼ to select the hour
      • Press ► key to select the next two columns for minutes 
      • Press ► key to select a (AM) or p (PM)
      • Example: 7:35 p

       

    6. Press ► to access the End column to set the time that the recording should end

      • Use ▲ or ▼ to select the hour
      • Press ► key to select the next two columns for minutes 
      • Press ► key to select  a (AM) or p (PM)
      • Example: 9:35 p

    7. Press the A key to accept the entry and schedule the recording

    8. The single manual recording icon or the recurring manual recording icon will be displayed next to the program listing in the Program Guide
 

Recording Programs with Keyword Search

    1. Press Guide button twice

    2. Select Keyword Search

    3. Use Your ▲,▼,►,◄ keys to select letters, press OK/Select to add letters to the search term

    4. On the list that populates on the right, select a show

    5. Press REC while selecting a folder for options:

      • Record all matching shows
      • Record all matching movies

        or

      Press REC while selecting a single show for options:

      • Record this show
      • Record entire series
      • View this channel now

 

Access, Play, Erase, and Modify Recordings

    1. Press the List* button once

    2. Once the DVR recording list appears, use ▲ and ▼ to scroll though recordings, and OK/Select to select a recording

      • You can also sort list by pressing List (DVR Menus) or the A button (Sort)

    3. Once the Record Options pop-up appears, use ▲ and ▼ to choose Play, Erase, Keep Longer, or Save Until Manually Erased, and press OK/Select

    *No list button?   

 

Sorting / Grouping Recordings (Putting in Folders)

 

Playing All Recordings From a Folder

    Your recordings must be grouped into folders first (see above)


    1. Select the folder and select Play All or Play All New


    2. Playing time in hours and minutes displays
 

Deleting All Recordings From a Folder

    Your recordings must be grouped into folders first (see above)


    1. Select the folder and press the Info key

    2. Select Erase All; total time in hours and minutes to erase is displayed

    3. On the confirmation screen, press:

      • A button: Erase All to confirm
      • C button: Don't Erase to cancel and not erase
 

Canceling a Recording

    1. In the Program Guide, highlight a program that is scheduled to be recorded, and press REC


      or

      Press List* button twice, select Scheduled Recordings, then select the show to cancel

    2. Select Cancel Recording, then press A to confirm


     

    *No list button?   

 

Managing Scheduled Recordings

    1. Press List* for the DVR Recordings page

    2. Select Scheduled Recordings for a list that displays newest to oldest based on the scheduled date of recording

    3. Use ▲ or ▼ to select the scheduled recording, then choose your options


      1. Stop Recording (if recording in progress)

      2. Record Options to Save:

          • Until Space is Needed: DVR erases older shows first
          • Until Manually Erased: when the DVR is full, it no longer records

      3. Choose Start and End Times

      4. Cancel Recording (will cancel future recording)

     

    *No list button?   

 

Resolving a Recording Conflict

    When a recording conflict occurs, a message will pop-up advising of the conflict and how to resolve

    You can either delete one of the recordings or modify the start and end times of one of the recordings to not interfere with the recording times of the other recordings
