Resolution Steps




PIN Types

    • Locks PIN: used to restrict viewing to particular channels, ratings, or programming


    • Purchase PIN: restricts viewers from ordering anything that requires a purchase
 

TiVo

    Parental Control Setup and Use

      • 4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners and Minis on TiVo Experience 3
        • Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Parental & Purchase Controls
        4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners , 4K Minis, and Minis on TiVo Experience 4 with Voice
        • Go to TiVo Home | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Parental & Purchase Controls
     

    Change Parental Control PIN

      • 4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners and Minis on TiVo Experience 3
        • Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Parental & Purchase Controls
        4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners , 4K Minis, and Minis on TiVo Experience 4 with Voice
        • Go to TiVo Home | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Parental & Purchase Controls


      • Choose Change PIN

      • Enter the existing 4 digit PIN

      • Enter a new 4 digit PIN, then confirm the PIN

      • Choose Turn On Parental Controls and enter your 4 digit PIN twice

      • Make changes to the settings as needed; once activated, Parental Controls remain on

        • Set rating restrictions for any TV show or Movie

        • Hide adult VOD titles

        • Lock particular channels

      • Special Notes
        • Parental Controls automatically re-lock when the remote is not used within four hours, or if the TiVo is in Standby mode

        • To permanently turn Parental Controls off, choose Turn Off Parental Controls and enter the 4-digit PIN
     

    Remove Purchase PIN

      • 4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners and Minis on TiVo Experience 3
        • Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Parental & Purchase Controls
        4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners , 4K Minis, and Minis on TiVo Experience 4 with Voice
        • Go to TiVo Home | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Parental & Purchase Controls

      • Chose Allow Purchases without a PIN 
      • Enter the original 4 digit Purchase PIN to confirm
     

    Change Purchase PIN

      • 4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners and Minis on TiVo Experience 3
        • Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Parental & Purchase Controls
        4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners , 4K Minis, and Minis on TiVo Experience 4 with Voice
        • Go to TiVo Home | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Parental & Purchase Controls

      • Chose Change PIN 

      • Enter the original 4 digit Purchase PIN
      • Enter a new 4 digit PIN, then confirm the PIN
 

Passport Boxes (Scientific Atlanta, Cisco)

    Parental Control Setup

      1. Press Menu twice to reach the General Settings page

      2. Go to Parental Control, then Change PIN

      3. Enter a 4-digit PIN, then confirm the PIN

      4. Go to Parental Control, then Locking Status and choose from one of the following:
        • Off (Relock Manually): permanently turns off Parental Controls

        • Off (Auto Relock): temporarily turns off Parental Controls 
          • Note: if the converter is turned off, Parental Control locks will be automatically activated when it is turned on again

        • On: All Parental Control locks turn on immediately

         

       

      Control by Channel, Content, Rating, Content or Time

        1. Press Menu twice to reach the General Settings page

        2. Go to Parental Control

        3. Enter a 4-digit PIN as you've set it up from the above steps

        4. Choose one of the options below:

          • Locked Channels
            • Scroll through the channel list and press Select to choose the channel you'd like to lock or unlock

            • The locked channel will have a lock icon next to it. This channel will not be accessible unless the user knows the PIN 

          • Locked Ratings
            • Scroll through the ratings list and press Select to choose the rating(s) you'd like to lock

               NR (General)   TV-14   NR (Adult) 

               

            • The rating(s) will have an open lock icon next to it

          • Locked Content
            • Scroll through the Content list and press Select to choose the content you'd like to lock
              Violence Sexual Situations Suggestive Dialog Adult Language
               Fantasy Violence   Implied Sexual Situations  Mild Suggestive Dialog Mild Adult Language

            • The content will have an open lock icon next to it


          • Locked Time
            • Scroll through and Select the date, start time, and end time you'd like to lock

            • The time will have an open lock icon next to it

           

        5. Ensure Locking Status is set to On (see steps above)
     

    Change Parental Control PIN

      1. Press Menu twice to reach the General Settings page

      2. Go to Parental Control, then Change PIN

      3. Enter the existing 4- digit PIN

      4. Enter a new 4- digit PIN, then confirm the PIN
     

    Purchase PIN Setup

      1. Press Menu twice to reach the General Settings page

      2. Go to Purchasing, then Locking Status

      3. Chose a 4-digit Purchase PIN - this can be a different number than the Parental Control PIN

      4. Chose On from the status column
     

    Remove Purchase PIN

      1. Press Menu twice to reach the General Settings page

      2. Go to Purchasing, then Locking Status

      3. Enter the existing Purchase PIN when prompted

      4. Chose Off  from the status column
     

    Change Purchase PIN

      1. Press Menu twice to reach the General Settings page

      2. Go to Purchasing, then Change PIN

      3. Enter the existing Purchase PIN when prompted

      4. Chose a new 4-digit Purchase PIN when prompted
     
 

iGuide Boxes (Motorola, Pace, Arris)

    Change PIN(s)

      1. Press the Menu button twice on the remote control

      2. Scroll Down to the second page of the Main Menu and choose Setup
      3. Select PINs Setup, and choose either Lock or Purchase PIN

      4. Enter the current PIN

      5. When prompted, enter a new PIN, then again to confirm
     

    Locking Preferences

      1. Go to Main Menu | Setup | Locks Setup and enter your current PIN
      2. Choose an option to update and press OK to confirm each setting

        • Lock Titles of programs

        • Lock TV Ratings

            NR (General)  G / TV-G    TV-MA
          TV-Y   PG / TV-PG  


           

        • Lock Movie Ratings
           NA   PG-13 NR (Adult)
           G / TV-G R

        • Lock Channels
        • Enable or disable Master Locks
        • Show or Hide Adult titles
     

    Bypass or Clear Locks

      1. Go to Main Menu | Setup | Locks Setup and enter your current PIN
      2. Select Master Locks from the Locks Setup screen

      3. Change the Bypass Locks option from No to Yes to temporarily clear all locks

      4. Change the Clear All Locks option from No to Yes to permanently clear all locks 
      

    Restore Locks (Turn on Locks)

      1. Go to Main Menu | Setup | Locks Setup 
      2. Select Turn on Locks and enter your current PIN

      3. Power the converter off, then back on
     

    Setting Locks while watching TV

      1. Highlight the  Icon on the Information screen

      2. Enter your Parental Locks PIN and lock the channel, title or rating using the on-screen prompts
 

HD DTA

    1. Press Menu on your remote

    2. Select Settings

    3. Select Parental Controls 

    4. If this is your first time to Parental Controls, you are prompted to make a numerical PIN and confirm it. Otherwise, enter your existing PIN 

    5. Select Rating Limits to choose the highest rating without entering the PIN 

      • TV Ratings

        • NA 
        • TV-Y
        • TV-Y7
        • TV-G
        • TV-PG
        • TV-14
        • TV-MA 

      • Movie Rating

        • NA 
        • G
        • PG
        • R 
        • PG-13
        • NC-17 
        • NR (Not Rated, Adult)

      • Block Unrated TV shows

      • Block Unrated Movies

      • When done, select Use these settings 

    6. Hide Adult shows
      • The titles and descriptions of any adult shows will be hidden 

      • Choose don't hide to show the titles and descriptions of any adult shows again

    7. Lock channels
      • Lock specific channels by scrolling to them and pressing OK

      • Your PIN will be needed to access any of these channels

      • You can also choose to Lock all channels, or Unlock all channels

    8. Change PIN

      • You will be prompted for your original PIN

      • Enter your new numerical PIN

      • Confirm it by entering it again

    9. You can also Disable Parental Controls and stop requiring a PIN to view blocked shows or channels
